I love this movie so much. Though many people have their other personal opinions. But who cares. This movie was funny, offensive, and hilarious. Their are 50 and 50 who are debating of the movie is good or bad. 10/10 recommend for you to watch it. Not going to spoil it for you ;)

Tending to the books of a construction company for his monstrous, repulsive, ugly-mouthed, incredibly large wife, Rasputia's (Eddie Murphy) muscled, appallingly-bullying brothers (Terry Crews, Lester Speight, and Clifton Powell), Norbit (also Murphy) is stuck in a dead-end job and rotten marriage, the constant object of ridicule and mistreatment. Raised in an orphanage with childhood sweetheart, Kate (Thandie Newton, quite cute), who was fortunately adopted while he wasn't, Norbit falls head over heels for her on her return. Kate plans to marry a douche named Deion (Cuba Gooding, Jr.), a crook who marries women and divorces them for profit, in cahoots with Rasputia's Latimore brothers in the orchestration of gaining Mr. Wong's (also Murphy) orphanage so they can turn into a titty bar.I think Eddie Murphy is one of the finest comics of my generation but Norbit (2007), although a hit, is a major comic tragedy. Loaded in makeup as the horrible, gargantuan Rasputia, Murphy plays her as a fat caricature, and I often cringed at the sight of her. I didn't find her funny as much as tiresome. Then there's the henpecked, nerdy weakling Norbit, right out of Revenge of the Nerds (1984), who remains a victim all the way until the end when he is finally rescued by the locals when it appears Rasputia is about to hit him with a shovel (a spike into her butthole stops her in her tracks!) by Wong. His mistreatment is rather exhausting instead of humorous. Clearly wanting to go the Nutty Professor route for gags (echoes of Coming to America (1988) also come to the forefront), Rasputia isn't the same kind of hilarious character you see with the Klumps or the barbers. She's just a grossout. The constant belittling and dehumanization of Norbit doesn't produce laugh out loud belly giggles, but elicits pity. The desperate need for audience amusement is there, but this film is just a failure. Murphy deserves better than this misfire. Newton is a sweetheart, though, but her ignorance to how obviously corrupt Gooding is kind of paints her as naïve and easily duped…and that she signs papers given to her by Norbit without even reading them doesn't help her cause, either. Wong, a Chinese orphanage operator with racism to blacks and Jews (he admits this to Norbit in an oddball night scene that is more headscratching than funny) who actually wanted to run a laundry instead, never once made me even smile. I just found him lame. When Murphy's at his best, he can't be beat, but there's no mistaking he's made the occasional bomb or two (think Pluto Nash). He's human after all.

There is a market for gross out humour, as box office sales for this film demonstrate. But for me, this slew of lazy, stereotypical fare is neither funny, nor worthy in any sense.Eddie Murphy is a talented actor whose work needs discipline. Here there is none. Fat people can be funny, as can oddballs, but good humour requires that you laugh with them, rather than at them. On too many occasions watching Norbit I simply cringed, in only one scene, did I laugh – when a big fat black momma takes a water chute and flies off the end.Thandi Newton plays Norbit's out of reach love interest, and is stranded, beautiful and engaging around the dross which laps all around her. Thirteen year olds, struggling to keep up at school, and behind with their reading, will enjoy the base humour and limited horizons which this film offers. For the rest, there will be much else to amuse. Norbit, played by Murphy, is squashed by the whale like Rasputia, played by Murphyhaving been taken in by the wacky Mr Wong played by Murphy and thats it, You have to endure another 101 minutes of purgatory.Director Brian Robbins forte is in American comedy series for TV, where an episode may last only 21 minutes and one joke can be stretched out, but he wholly fails to produce a feature film worth of comedy. I may have seen worse films, but I can't name them right now.

OMG...I can't believe all they hype about obesity and racism that is being flung at this movie. It's Eddie Murphy, guys! If you didn't expect both fat jokes and racism (or any kind of joke for that matter) in the movie then you need to go back and watch your Barney videos for a while! This movie was almost non-stop laughs for me as the dialect used is rooted from where I'm from! It wasn't supposed to be a masterpiece. It's supposed to be entertaining. If you looked at the movie poster or watched the trailers you'd know that this movie is what it is. It certainly wasn't the best film, but it certainly wasn't the worst. I think the one stars people are throwing around are because they are easily offended people with thin skin who don't know what's beyond the city limits they live in. I didn't pay to see this movie, but after seeing it, I wouldn't have minded if I did. Grow up, put your big girl panties on and believe it or not, you can enjoy a movie in the peace of your own mind and not try to start a revolution on IMDb through reviews. This is Eddie Murphy and a host of his Hollywood friends doing a great job at making people laugh.
