I loved the first Kingsman. Original, witty and uniquely BRITISH. Yes, I'm American, but I loved that the original was anything BUT completely Hollywood! So many crappy movies come out of Hollywood every year with the exact same formula and exact same actors. The original Kingsman was refreshing and uniquely different with it's approach and ensemble. This one, not so much. Jeff Bridges?? Julianne Moore?? Halle Berry!!!??? Ugh!! Been there, done that! This movie didn't need their star power (as fading as it may be). It already had what it needed! They could have easily found an actress as talented as Julianne Moore to play the villain (and much cheaper too!). Jeff Bridges? I love this guy (Crazy Heart,The Big Lebowski) - but for every great movie he makes - he's in 10 horrible movies for a paycheck!! I can only surmise the "Great American Sellout" came down to money. Sad. Why do sequels so often go astray from the formula that worked so well with the original??Beyond all of this - it was still a fun movie to watch. It was good, but could have been great. The only other complaint was ELTON JOHN's role in this film. I'm still scratching my head. Yes - he's a musical icon - yes he's about as famous as it gets - but his scenes were just silly and stupid. It was like the writer was a huge fan and figured if he wrote enough flattering scenes he'd get the big guy. Well, I guess it worked - sadly for the film.Like the original? Then watch this one, but don't expect that same European flavor - distinctly British feel - and uniqueness. This is clearly an American franchise now.

After the first Kingsman movie I was excited to watch the sequel, but was very disappointed. This sequel was nowhere close to the originality and "feel good" story of the first movie. The overall performance was flat and laughable. The Sir Elton John fight scene was beyond ridiculous and the storyline felt more like a poorly written political satire.

I felt like they were slapping me with one hand and using the other to pay me to ignore the burning on my cheek. Maybe this is on me but I expected more than 30 seconds of screen time from Sophie Cookson. She was my main reason for forgiving their having killed off Gazelle in the first one. As a small note, there is a brief flashback of Sofia Boutella, so.... does that even the scales...? The Sophie/Sofia issue aside, you just can't allude to a small gift made at the end of the first film w/o leaving the viewer with the expectation that gift will be repeated. And WTF was with the young Burt Reynolds look? I couldn't decide if it was cool or offensive. If you can get past all that, or just don't care, then the payoff is that this has good eye candy, a decent cast, great action, fantastic FX AND they whip up a few chuckles. This is probably only watchable every 3 - 5 years. At least I now know what isn't in it.

If you're looking for some in-depth though provoking material, I suggest you watch some sort of documentary or something of the like. This movie sets out to entertain and be light-hearted. That goal being in mind, this movie was absolutely awesome!
