Plot Overview: When Simon(Joe Thomas)'s girlfriend dumps him, he and his friends go on a lads holiday to Malia, encountering drugs, alcohol and women along the way.Directed by Ben PalmerStarring Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and James Buckley# NO SPOILERS!Overall: If you like the TV show, you'll like this film. If you like this type of Cringe comedy - you'll like this movie. This movie is definitely not for everyone but those that it is for will like it.The type of people who like this movie will be fans of the TV show and those who enjoy cringe comedy.Would Recommend# POSSIBLE SPOILERS!Blake Harrison was great as Neil Sutherland and is everyone's favourite slow, perverted 18 year old. All the characters were hilarious and amazing and brilliant. Other than Blake, other leading actors' acting was pretty mediocre. The villain-esc character was very weak. The overall story doesn't go over the top and remains like a classical lads holiday. The ending is pretty nice and has a nice sentiment. There is nothing really special to the story and the continuous over arching story of Simon & Carli's relationship has become bland and repetitive. The cinematography was fine. It worked well and served its purpose. This movie is positively hilarious and thoroughly entertaining. It opens the window for fans of the show and newcomers alike to enjoy the antics of Will and co. The music was amazing. Mr Gilbert's cameo was amazing.Personally, I loved this movie and think it is one of the better TV- Big screen adaptations that's been made in recent memory.8/10

Based on the immensely successful TV series that ran between 2008 and 2010 on E4, The Inbetweeners naturally made the leap to the big screen much to the appreciation of its fans, who obviously felt that 3 seasons was not nearly enough time to spend with it's four hopeless would-be lothario's. As with most TV-to-movie transitions, the added budget requires moving the setting to something bigger and more exotic, which means its a lad's holiday to Malia for Will (Simon Bird), Jay (James Buckley), Neil (Blake Harrison) and Simon (Joe Thomas), where they hope to find sun, sea and sex. "It'll be like shooting clunge in a barrel," as the ever-sensitive Jay delicately puts it.After Will's father marries a much younger women, Jay inherits money from his grandfather's death, and Simon is dumped by his girlfriend Carli (Emily Head), Neil books the group a much-needed fortnight away in Crete. Only their accommodation is a run-down squalor with a dead dog in the water well, and the area seems to be populated by a lonesome weirdo, an angry hotel owner and lots of ants. Their first venture into the clubs leads them to a deserted bar where they meet four girls who are staying nearby. Will insults but manages to hit it off with the gorgeous Alison (Laura Haddock); Simon can't stop talking about his ex to Lucy (Tamla Kari); Neil is too interested in the older lady on the dancefloor to talk to Lisa (Jessica Knappett); which leaves Jay "stuck with the fat one" Jane (Lydia Rose Bewley).I boycotted the show for years due to it's popularity, as I find that it never spells good news if everyone is discussing how funny a show is (see Gavin & Stacy for proof). Yet when I did catch it on late-night TV, it transported me back to my school days. The dialogue is consistently crude and ridiculously offensive, but tragically realistic. The boys' repulsiveness was offset by their naivety and innocence, especially when spoken by Jay, a compulsive liar with a mentally abusive father. The show was less appealing in its relentless cruelty; set-pieces involving s******g your pants during an exam or walking down a cat- walk with one testicle unknowingly hanging out tended to induce cringing rather than laughs.Operating on a larger scale means that these set-pieces are more dominant, making the film more akin to American teen sex comedies such as Porky's (1982) or American Pie (1999) than the more observational TV show that brought us "bus w*****s!", "ah, car fwend," and punching a fish to death. So rather than decent jokes and immature word-play, we get Jay masturbating with chicken-fillets and a gas mask and Neil's fingers working their way into an old slapper's knickers in the middle of a club. Still, while it makes little attempt to work outside the familiar tropes of the genre, it's funnier than most small-to-big screen transitions seen with British shows throughout the decades, with Bird and Buckley especially putting in decent performances.

It was possibly the most anticipated film of the year, the TV show had ended and it had been announced that the Inbetweeners would be returning, in a feature length film! The 4 lads had finished school and were now free to do what they please with their time, what else is there to do, other than a lads holiday to Malia! It sounds like it has all the promise to be fantastic doesn't it? It really should have been one of the films of the year, it had all the ingredients, but unfortunately it just felt flat. It's hard to write a review on The Inbetweeners Movie without drawing comparisons to the TV show. This is because the TV show was absolutely faultless (well, the majority of it anyway!). I will list the problems I had with the movie:1) It felt too Hollywood. Too many times in the movie where they went too unrealistic, the great thing about The Inbetweeners was that it was so relatable, it was realistic and above all else, it was original. The movie seems to have too many cliché moments and over the top, slapstick humour, which is not what The Inbetweeners is all about. 2) Too much focus on the girls. The 4 lads spent most of the series chasing girls and managing to fail 99% of the time. In the movie they attract girls within the first night! That's not within keeping of the series! The girls like the lads and the lads keep on messing situations up, surely it should have been the other way round and the lads just be the ones harassing the girls? 3) Not as much crude humour, it felt like a watered down version of the TV show. As I said before the humour felt more slapstick, the crude one-liners and offensive jokes felt kept to a minimum which was a real shame. 4) Felt to Clichéd. The falling out between the lads half way through. The fact Carly keeps popping up throughout the film. The alpha Male club rep. It's all been done far too often in Hollywood comedies and to be honest, it's getting a little tiring now.Don't get me wrong, The Inbetweeners Movie is an enjoyable watch, I have seen it several times and it still amuses me. It's just if you make a direct comparison to the TV show (which is near impossible not to) it just doesn't live up to its reputation. The Chemistry is still there between the 4 lads and the loyalty and friendship is still nice to see.7/10

I am being extremely generous in giving this movie one star out of ten. It was like an overly-extended terrible episode. Don't get me wrong, I love the series, and watched it religiously, but after seeing this movie and then watching re-runs to better my faith in the franchise itself, my love of it went out the window. I can't even describe how horrible this 'movie' is. 1 hour and 37 minutes of pure boredom; dry humor with a lack of laughs, no real storyline, and basically its just Jay saying d*ck, tw*t, p*ssy, w****r, m*ff and other related sex slang. Highlight of the movie: Pussy Patrol shirts. And that gag wasn't even THAT funny. Low point: The entire movie
