Very disappointing...
Sorry, this movie sucks
Great Film overall
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
I've enjoyed watching this movie so much, I've seen it maybe FIFTY times (thank goodness for DVDs).BUT the science in it is EXECRABLE! And the more I watch it, the more annoying the "science facts" get. So I just watch it now for the action. And the casting of Sonya Walger as a femme fatale is kind of silly. There are only about 500 women in Hollywood WAY better-looking that her. It makes sense for a total nerd like Flynn to find her devastatingly attractive, but not everyone ELSE.
Five minutes in, and I was already fascinated by the characters and the story. The movie is so interesting and engaging. Then, the interview scene was WOW. Think about it. When the cold interviewer asks you to tell something new, what will you do? Haha! The protagonist Flynn surely got talent. From then on, we audience follow him into a new magical world, with one after another wow inducing scenes. The movie is punctuated with light moments. Kelly Hu looks amazing. She smiles at Flynn, "I really admire your work." The villain's got humor and charisma! Another funny moment was when Flynn said he had always known the professor was evil because he got A-.The movie is so interesting and engaging. I love it from beginning to end. It is so much better than the boring Indiana Jones. This is one of the ideal movies about tomb raider adventures, including The Mummy 1- 2, Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider 1.I can't wait to see the sequels. After that, I'll get to the TV series.
Flynn Carsen is a perennial student, but for his first job application, he will get the job of his lifetime : The Librarian. He will be the chief librarian of the biggest library in the world housing the most legendary artefacts known to mankind from the Excalibur sword, the Pandora box or the Holy Grail. But he shall also be the one roaming the world for lost or stolen artifacts transforming him into a real Indiana Jones type. With this TV movie, a series of TV movies and later on a TV series were created but the first movie introduces as to all the excitement of the librarian's job description. Don't mind the flaws in the technical effects, just enjoy the adventures of Noah Wyle as the Librarian on his quest for the Spear of Destiny. 8.3/10 " - rogdieFor more review please consult my IMDb watchlist : Roger's watchlist - over 1060 movies reviewed
So I just saw this movie; only 7 years after it's release...As the last reviewer mentioned, it has a lot of typical Indiana Jones' "things" to it; riddles, conspiracies, ancient secret artifacts, and of course the same kind of humor, amongst other. All of which makes it a quite entertaining and enjoyable family movie. I must say that I'm a sucker for adventures like the ones the movies characters are going on. Probably brings me back to my childhood fantasies. You know: Being the brave and smart hero, saving the world, and getting the girl. All of these things make me forgive the extremely lousy fight scenes, all the fake studio-shot outdoor scenes, the unrealistic animations, and bad key-framing.But for me a movie is fortunately not just a science in making the viewer believing that the story is true. It is all about bringing me into a wonderful new adventure, where everything is possible, and only hindered by the movie makers fantasies. It is now 1.22 am, and I'm about to watch The Librarian 2. Hope I will enjoy jet another "cosy" reality flight.
