Sorry, this movie sucks
Powerful
A lot of fun.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
All these years later, I still look back on this as the best looking 3D movie experience I've seen.Ever since 3D has taken off, I think it's actually the wrong genre of movie (fast action movies) that tends to get the 3D treatment. Fast-moving objects, chaos on screen, and rapid cuts, typical of the action genre, are not ideally suited for 3D.For 3D to really look great, you need lots of long steady shots for the 3D effect to really soak in. This movie knows this. All the long-held shots of long dark corridors look amazing in 3D. Nothing looks better than seeing a monster all the way down at the end of the hallway and feeling the depth and distance of it all, something you'd never feel if you weren't seeing it in 3D.And when monsters or other objects pop-out of the screen directly at you, you know those shots were designed to be seen in 3D. This movie has plenty of all of that.Perhaps the most impressive effect of all was the very first shot, right at the start, when the foggy debris falls in front of you, the debris particles appear to be right in front of your face. That was super cool. And for the fans, this movie was actually filled with faithful adaptions and references to the game, which as a player of the games, was fun to see. For example, Carrie Anne Moss looks exactly like her character from the game. The main girl's American accent was a bit wonky, but she also was a pretty good embodiment of her character from the game. And who didn't enjoy seeing the such as the roasted dog on the dinner table?Don't make the mistake of expecting this movie to be something different than what it really has to offer. Think of this an amusement park haunted house ride with amazing 3D effects, not simply a normal movie, and you might just love it.
The original SILENT HILL, which I saw in the cinema, was a mixed bag, I thought. As a special effects piece movie, some of the CGI was pretty good, and there were some frightening moments involving the various beasties and sheer level of weird stuff going on. This sequel seems lower budgeted and less full of ideas, which is a shame as British director Michael J. Bassett handled one of the most underrated fantasy films of recent years (SOLOMON KANE).Radha Mitchell has gone - aside from a brief cameo - and Sean Bean is in short supply here, so most of the screen time goes to the young, bland newcomers in the shape of Adelaide Clemens (forgettable) and Kit Harington (who has little of the gruff charisma he displays in GAME OF THRONES). They wander around a lot and not much really happens, aside from the usual CGI augmented spook show stuff, and it seems to take most of the running time before they finally end up back in Silent Hill. Indeed, SILENT HILL: REVELATION is so focused on offering up acceptable FX sequences that it forgets to tell a coherent storyline or indeed scare the viewer very much.
I liked this film more than I thought I would, but that still doesn't mean I liked it. Adelaide was a good choice for heather/Sharon, I liked her acting in the lead role. Sean Bean was alright In his role of Christopher. As you know, that is if you follow my reviews, I did not like the original Silent Hill film, I rated it a 2/10. I kinda liked this sequel a little better, but it still is not a good movie. The special effects are lackluster and really nothing special. This movie does have some flashbacks to the original silent hill, which I liked. But this movie's plot is rather muddled and confusing, and it gets boring after a while, that's why i didn't enjoy this movie as a whole. I liked Vincent's character, he was probably my favorite part of the entire film. And I like the Romance angle too. Also the gore got to be too much in a couple scenes. 4/10 for Silent Hill: Revaluation 3D.
After a fairly good first attempt at an adaptation of the Silent Hill games, this belated sequel suffers from poor acting, a shoddy plot and laughable dialogue - considering the film stops dead in its tracks on several occasions to allow lengthy monologues from characters explaining what it couldn't be bothered to show you through the story. In addition, it seems to be too heavily inspired by the more action-filled Resident Evil film franchise, with a noisy soundtrack that jars with the creepiness that made the first film work well. Though a handful of scenes are genuinely chilling and the cinematography has its beautiful moments, nothing can forgive how lazy the filmmakers are in telling this story. I'm afraid this one marks where the corpse of the Silent Hill franchise is buried.
