Really Surprised!
Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
I'd put off watching this- it looked a little more poignant than I felt like watching, but I'm glad I got around to it, because I ended up really enjoying it. Despite a slightly dodgy accent Keira was really engaging and likeable, despite her character's shortcomings. After seeing Rockwell in other films I probably wouldn't have cast him as a caring and responsible Dad, but he's perfect- a very good actor, and the character is a nice change from the usual 'Everything fell apart when my wife died/left, I don't know how to raise a child' trope of single fathers. The characters are rounded, the film is well written and the ending appropriate and satisfying. Chloe Grace Moretz is the perfect balance of teen rebel and actually relatable human being. It's really perfectly cast, well directed and generally enjoyable. The only real downfall is the supporting characters- they're rather shallow and convenient/expositional and it's in sharp contrast to the realistic and rounded mains.
Sue me (didn't want to make a lawyer joke here), but I liked the film. There are some over dramatic scenes and the plot is almost paint- by-numbers, but it covers a real situation: when you get stuck into a situation because your group of friends kind of pushed you into it and it's not really you anymore.Keira Knightley is very cute in this film, as opposed to other movies where to me she just felt fake. I think she really got the idea of the script and could relate to her character. The well scripted plot helped. In the end you don't have a tear moment or reach some sort of life altering conclusion, but if you ever felt like the main character, this film will have meaning to you. Enjoy!
I loved this movie: It's quirky, funny, and full of the melancholy feeling of life. I stumbled upon it one day while on Netflix. I had watched the trailer months earlier but expected it to be a a theater release/vs straight to DVD. The acting and script was well done, and I just can't seem to get enough of Sam Rockwell, why does it seem like he is never made a big name? Such an incredible actor, team him up with Knightly and Moretz and you have a great drama-comedy, which happens to be my second favorite movie genre. From beginning to end you have all emotions of the spectrum and it never felt slow or boring. Although a tad predictable it is a great watch and should not be missed.
Meg is a woman in her late twenties who hasn't figured out what she wants to do with her life and she still lives as a teenager. When her long term boyfriend proposes to her, she takes a week off in the house of a teenage girl and her father. I don't know why exactly but I enjoyed laggies. Sure it's not the movie that I will remember after some time, but it is interesting to watch how the characters bond, how Meg finds herself more suited to be friends with a teenage girl than her all grown up old friends. The story is a little odd, but at some points not original at all. I guess everything is on a medium level, not too bad but not too great either. And so I give Laggies a 4 out of 10.
