Simply Perfect
Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
The acting in this movie is really good.
Definitely reminded me of an 80s version of sisterhood of the traveling pants. Of course, Julia Roberts is great! I still can't figure out why Lili Taylor looks so familiar...also, what was in the pizza???
Great watch from beginning to end. Roberts, Taylor and Gish shine in this film with lovely supporting performances from Conchata Ferrell etc. The film deviates away from the whole 'brat pack' style of 80s coming of age films which is refreshing (no disrespect to Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink etc.) and creates a new perspective of 3 young teenage girls growing up in a small town and having their own inner unique hopes and anxieties for their futures making this film as relevant it is today as it was 30 years ago for young teenagers both female and male alike.
Though it's teased throughout the movie, you're not going to find out what Leona's (Cochatta Ferrell) secret pizza recipe calls for. You'll have to wait till she retires to see if one of the girls spills the beans. This is a lighthearted fluff of a film with some present-day well known players who got an early start on stardom here, Julia Roberts and Vincent D'Onofrio chief among them. If you stay attentive during the Windsor Family dinner party, you'll even catch Matt Damon in his very first movie appearance with a single line trying to give away his 'green stuff'. No, it's not money, you'll have to catch the picture to find out. Most of the characters here are pretty much stereotypes of those you'd find in any romantic comedy/drama, given some added appeal via the scenic backdrop of Mystic, Connecticut. So intrigued was I with the mysterious name of the Eastern seaport that I made a day trip out there once. Besides checking out Mystic Pizza if you go, you really should visit the Mystic Seaport Museum of America and the Sea - it's got blue lobsters!
I actually loved the movie Mystic Pizza, i can watch it over and over. I know this may seem weird but i really liked daisy's boyfriend in this but are guys even like that? since i'm only 15 i would know crap all about love lol but was it unrealistic or do guys actually fall in love with you like that. Anyway i loved the movie i loved how close the three girls were and how much fun they all had and how they all found love and lived near the sea i sound cheesy ha ha but yeah it was a good movie it mad me smile and julia roberts looked so pretty in it my fav scene was of her in the black dress with the bow killer body!! i recommend it i really enjoyed it and to this day, i think i'm gonna go watch it hahaha
