I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
One of my favorite films is "Trainspotting" so of course I thought I'd like this film as well. There are some "Trainspotting" elements, like similarity between characters Spud and Royce, throughout the film and a couple of funny scenes but while I was watching it I kept waiting for it to end as soon as possible. Lead actress is talking funny, I don't recall her talking like that in "Sons of Anarchy" but maybe her role requires her to talk like that since she's an addict. Also, I recently watched "Felicity" and I have to say that Scott Speedman is almost the same in both roles as Ben and Dexter which in my opinion isn't good since those are two very different roles. Overall experience of this film wasn't good.
The basic story of "Weirdsville," is 2 stoner junkies owe one odd drug dealer money and must find a way to come up with it by last call that night. It turns into an all out scramble through the city involving everything from their dead hooker girlfriend, a satanic cult, and a troop of little people. Oh, and of course it all happens in the only place in the world it could...Canada.The Good: This movie was entertaining. There is a ton of laughs to be had, twists and turns, and it all comes together in the end. The acting was pretty good considering this was more of a fun movie than anything else. All together this is a great screwball comedy. It was amazingly well crafted for the type of movie it is as well. The Bad: I really can't say a lot of bad things about this movie. The plot is a little basic but that is to be expected due to the kind of movie it is supposed to be. It's comedy and entertainment folks, not rocketry and mathematics so if you decide to watch it than you already know what you are getting. As long as you read the back of the box, you should enjoy it.I give this one a 9 out of 10. Pretty well crafted for the genre. The cast of "Weird" characters includes about anything you could ask for in a slacker comedy and definitely doesn't disappoint. Get out the bong, and get ready to melt into the couch and have a good time with "Weirdsville!"
this could have been a really fun/funny movie - a lot could have been done with the premise & story. unfortunately its a DNF because of the poor execution.....for example the scene when the drug dealer/loan shark is shark is threatening them in the alley....oooohhh, shivers of disgust. i felt so embarrassed for whoever made that movie, real face turning red stuff. It's a compelling argument against government subsidization of the movie & TV biz....we all know what socialism does to an economy, this is what it does to a movie. Sorry my fellow Canucks, i only have so many hour on this planet, from now on if its made in Canada, I'm not watching (unless its by my friend Kevin Sullivan).
It's just wonderful to see how three best friends wind up in a story that's just so complicated and poetic. I was amazed by the outcome of every situation and I think there should be more movies like this one. Even the music was perfect for the movie. I also really like it when the makers put something useful to know in the movie and in this one, they certainly did, but what I liked most is that the piece that the mouse (or rat) played in the story, without it, the movie would have been less meaningful and I think it's really great that people can come up with these things to put in their movie which completes it ... without it, the film wouldn't have been the same. ... great piece of work
