Reviews
To me, this movie is perfection.
This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Comic duo from YouTube sketches makes film. Context: world war II. Style: silly humor with as many references to clichés, ethnic/religious/cultural, so on so forth. Point: make a parody out of a historical context and situation that have been such a prolific and familiar environment in French cinema in particular, in the now typical display of anachronistic comedy where the two lead characters are basically from today's world and sent back in time, hence the comedic effect. Some social commentary injected in, between the lines so to speak, where politically incorrect topics are brought up by some characters for others to say why they're wrong.Fine for about an hour. Runs out of puff and momentum within the last 30minutes. Pretty funny on the whole, just too typical and rehashing of older comedy in spirit and not as original as one would've liked with those two as the protagonists, a bit too formulaic in taste.4.5/10.
