This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
Sorry, this movie sucks
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
In spite of some amount of predictability, the story was original enough, romantic enough, and the girl sexy enough to watch. I liked that it was a francoamerican the hero too. Refreshing.
If you are a fan of romantic movies just like me then you will definitely like this one. The one thing that sticks me like a hangover from the movie is its story line which is so beautiful and threaded in so much love. The good looks of the main characters and certain dialogues certainly leave a trail somewhere in your mind. This is a movie I would not mind watching repeatedly since its just so beautiful. Even the countryside in the scenes make me wish that I were there. The movie had lots of interesting surprises that were totally unexpected and reveals the intelligence of the movie maker. This was not like any other movie that I have recently seen.
This was a good book, I enjoyed the movie too, a decent enough adaption of another Nicholas Sparks romance. I think it could have benefited from being slightly longer as some of the major plot points were glazed over but on that note I wonder if I would have thought the same thing if I hadn't read the book first? Anyways, Zac Efron is nice to look at and does a good job as a slightly PSD'd Iraq war veteran who returns from his third tour of duty and tracks down the woman from a photo he credits with keeping him alive. His good luck charm, a woman he doesn't know but who he soon suspects may be the love of his life.I enjoyed quite a few things about this movie; it's beautifully shot; sunlight filtering through trees in Louisiana. I liked Blythe Danner as the grandma, I liked the relationship 'Logan' develops with Beth's son, playing chess and the sweet scene where he gets the courage to play violin in church. Taylor Schilling was good as the love interest too, she had several emotional scenes to get through. And Jay R. Ferguson does a great job as the bad guy/sheriff/ex-husband. He is a character that you can easily hate, which is always fun.My favorite scene in this movie would be when Logan "schools" 'Keith' disarming the drunken bully on a crowded street, all the while maintaining his cool and making Beth's ex the Sheriff look like a total ass.I was disappointed with the "exciting" climax though; a storm, rising flood waters, a child trapped on a wooden bridge and both men fighting through the waters. This had a hugely suspenseful build up in the book and for a while you're not even sure who survives. Here the whole scene is done and dusted in about 5 minutes. Lame. 6 /14/15
Frankly I quite like the romantic melodrama genre with stunning actors in the main role and breathtaking backgrounds in the whole movie, themes like fate and destiny, and this movie has it all. I think too many elements make this movie sometimes bland and unreasonable but still I like this movie and both the actors are photogenic. The most highlighted factor in a romantic movie is the chemistry between pairs, it never work like they are in love; the pair needs to make the audience believe in them. Here the actors are so good at it, that why this movie turns out to be a good one. But still it lacks the spark of "the notebook". Well Nicholas Sparks is famous for, in a tale where everyone has redeeming qualities. "Never let it be said that Nicholas Sparks doesn't prefer easy fake greeting-card melodrama to something that looks more like complicated reality."Marine Sergeant Logan played by Zack Affron is one of the confident actors. He is natural on screen and has an appealing look, which counts as plus points. I have been his fan from movies like 17 again, high school musical series, in this movie he has tried to prove himself as he can be taken seriously but sometimes he wears a blank expression.Beth Green played by Taylor Schilling also justifies her role; she plays with her expression beautifully by adjusting it in accordance with the situation. Taylor Schilling is best known for portraying piper Chapman in the Netflix original series Orange is the new black (2013-present).I recommend this movie to those who are Nicholas Sparks fan, and I give three stars out of five.
