Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
A very feeble attempt at affirmatie action
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
The title of my review is actually a lie. I gave this a 2 because I much enjoyed criticizing and laughing at this "film" with my fiancé. I will admit that I started watching this after 15 minutes of the film had already passed, but NOTHING in that 15 minutes can justify or make up for the cluster-f$&k of massive awfulness. I'm not sure how, but it took me a good half hour to realize that one of the characters was indeed long forgotten Kel Mitchell from All That and Good Burger. When I did realize it I was gasping for air with all the laughing. The special effects actually DO leave you speechless, because they make no sense. The best scene is when the final trio of characters are sprinting to the alien ship, and while inside another alien aircraft tries to blast the ship, and you get to see the exact same pieces of debris flying a good 10 times or so. Oooo and the final scene where the ship is crashing....priceless. You get to see the samurai chick gain an eye-patch in between scenes for no reason. Eh, that's enough for this review....it deserves a 1/10 but I was entertained so I was generous with a two. If you enjoy laughing at complete stupidity then check this movie out.
The weakest thing in the movie is the execution and the special effects. I mean when you present for such a long periods of time some women-pilots (looking more of a model rather than a military crew) flying F-16s like they were C-130s, and when people shoot with M16s and the sound and visual effects look like a paint-ball gun, then there's surely something very wrong in the production. The plot tries to deliver some sci-fi excitement, but it's so weak and silly and can't really save the day. Acting is not bad on some cases, but again, there's total lack of logic on the emotions, it's like Mortal Kombat II, in one scene you fight to death, next scene you walk on the road like nothing happened. Terrible terrible movie.
Mockbuster means it is a cheesy takeoff of a popular movie and that is what you get in this straight to video and SF Channel takeoff of Battle: Los Angeles. If you were expecting the also cheesy bad latter film which actually had a decent budget nearly all of the other reviewers here express your disappointment. The Asylum group specializes in these knockoffs and this is actually one of their best efforts (damning with very faint praise.) This video combines Skyline and Battle: Los Angeles with Independence Day and tosses in a few throwaway references to ET and Kill Bill among other movies. I would recommend this for bad movie night except it has too many slow stretches. Bad acting and very cheap special effects and screwed up technical details characterize these type of films. This video actually has a plot but it doesn't make much sense so don't do the comparison to bad porn with no naked bodies. Young viewers who like cheap SF and get the other movie references might sit through this movie.
When this mess started I kept thinking "it'll get going in a minute ." Then half an hour later you think- well,I guess not.The story line seems to be non existent. When the pilot from 1942 appears you are given false hope that this will finally put a few revs in the film, but no.It's a cheap film that looks like it's been made on a back lot of a back lot.Worst film line before we meet the "The Alien " has to be "Anyone got any reeces pieces ? He loves those." Dire dialogue.Terrible script. How on earth did this ever make it to the screen ? worth for the unintentional laughs only ! like the "hard " woman who suddenly appears with one patch over her eye !! where did that come from !! ha ha ha.cheap budget sci-fi at it's worst .
