Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
Realizing that his bio-engineered daughter is turning into her fully-alien counterpart, a doctor takes her to Mexico for help in controlling the change, only instead unleashing a far more vicious side to her than he imagined.A lot more enjoyable than imagined, due mainly to the fact that the warring nature of her transformation is almost always present, resulting in the changes that force out more action and science fiction elements as well as the occasional jolt of horror with some bloody killings spread throughout that give off some good points every so often. Again with the added element of a lot of extra nudity, a far more ferocious pace and some minor bioengineering babble thrown into the mix, this one comes out far better than expected and actually has some fun, especially once the rebirth takes place and there's actually a confrontation between two alien mutations that is a lot of fun in a cheesy manner. Has a few minor issues to deal with, but surprisingly nothing too serious as this is a lot of fun.Rated R: Full Nudity, Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and several Sex Scenes
This sequel was actually THE best of all the sequels of Species. It was sexy but actually there is a story attached to it that makes fictionally sensible. The IMDb rating of 4.1 of the time I am writing this review must have been given by those who were sexually frustrated because the way the movie was marketed (The Cover) it was for those who were perverted minded hoping they will get a full on alien soft-core flick which is not at all. For me the sexy scenes just spiced up the movie like any other which had a really good story, good plot, great actors and a good ending. The team behind the making of this sequel actually put much effort into making this a good movie which is worth its time watching, just hope they made a buck at the end. This movie should have went to theatres because it was good as the Alien series with Sigourney Weaver. This movie is probably not an Oscar type of movie but is much better than some of the movies that get so much attention like Twilight: New Moon. This movie is two thumbs up like Ebert & Roeper would say.
They just totally ruined that amazing SIL design by H.R.Giger...I really expected that "Species" series could be at least as good as Alien series but the ruined it. After being disappointed by Species 3, I felt absolutely wreck with Species IV...I mean I am a big fan of 1st species, and the alien-creature in species IV was like a puppet rather than being realistic. SIL design and special effects were good for 1995 situations...But now for 2007 movie (I think its all about the budget I don't know) I didn't expect that...It was utterly, awful..I wish I could give "0"... If they gonna make any other 5th one and if its going to be like this one, please No..Its will be a waste of time...Remember the 1st one please...
It just didn't work.Alien nun? WTF? Alien taxi driver? And he tries to kill his passenger for what reason? They live in Mexico? Where where they the rest of the time? So why are they suddenly just killing people when Ben Cross and the Blonde chick come into town? Wasn't good...wasn't scary, wasn't science fiction...just wasn't workable. The writers could have come up with something more creative for the paycheck...and the locations could have been chosen better too.Basically, it all could have been better.Yeah...as far as sequels go...it should be written by the same people - especially if the script was big enough to have a sequel.
