Excellent adaptation.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
This movie is very entertaining-in fact, as a rom-com I found it to be very good. (I usually just like them, with exceptions like Love Actually.) I came very close to loving it, but instead I really liked it. My problem is how the movie decides to advance the relationship. Erin and Garrett, our couple, have sex on the VERY first night that they meet! Who goes to that so quickly? Then the very next morning Erin kisses Garrett and says: "I love you." Um, yeah right! You just loved last night- but you can not love someone that quickly just because you MADE love! That's a pathetic message Hollywood tries to sell. Oh, and the movie ends with 2 people caught in the act of dry humping on a table! There is real love in this movie though. The title comes from the fact that these 2 people live in different states and therefore "go the distance" to see each other. That's the most romantic part of their relationship. It's not a perfect look at romance, but the movie is still very good. It's worth seeing.
Fantastic film! It checks all the boxes that a romantic comedy should! Drew Barrymore was of course, amazing, and while it took me a minute or two to get used to seeing Justin Long playing a serious character (I just happen to have seen him play a lot of strange or less serious roles) he did a marvelous job of breaking the mold and was even quite the hottie in his role as leading man. I laughed, I cried, I recommend a watch!
Have you ever been out on a date with someone who seems very enduring, only ending up to discovering that they have a trashy personality. The romantic comedy film, titled Going the Distance can be described up the same way. The film is a bunch of trash. Its nothing but stupid jokes with no substance. To make things worse, theirs no romance in this show. With that stated I must also state the effort that has clearly been put in to the writing of the script is puzzling. Dose the screenwriter think he is something or do the actors and actresses manage to mess up extraordinarily. In My opinion it's both, that are an horrible mess, that makes this a joke, of a film. The amount of crude humour just smacks ones intelligence in this film. I'm not against the use of most types of humour per say. Yet there is a difference between being told a dirty joke is funny because it's a dirty joke so it just has to be good, and a dirty joke that's actually funny. This movie like so many today, uses the dirty jokes in the worst ways possible for laughter.Summary. A very unromantic, not funny, but a truly forgettable film. Don't see this movie. It dose not work on any level. Going the Distance really goes no place. Forget you ever heard of it. That will be doing yourself a favour
I LOVED THIS MOVIE!! I have to say it came as a bit of a surprise, I wasn't expecting much after seeing the trailer as they tend to put the best bits in the trailers. But I was wonderfully surprised about how funny and warming this film was!! The cast of Justin Long and Drew Barrymore works really well together and Justin's friends in the film (played by Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day) are hilarious! If you have seen the trailer and aren't sure whether to bother seeing it or not, I say give it a chance because you'll be surprised at how well this movie works. The rating of 6.3 out of 10 is not justified, you need to see it before making any judgements. Definitely worth a watch!!
