Fresh and Exciting

it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.

What begins as a feel-good-human-interest story turns into a mystery, then a tragedy, and ultimately an outrage.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

A musician (Meryl Streep) who gave up everything for her dream of rock-and-roll stardom returns home, looking to make things right with her family.This film ended up on my to-see list simply because I wanted to pay tribute to Jonathan Demme. This is not one of his better films, and despite what the DVD cover says, this is not one of Streep's best films, either. Heck, it is not even Diablo Cody's best work. It is middling on all counts, an average plot fleshed out with musical numbers.In more ways than one, this is sort of like Demme's "Rachel Getting Married". So, if you liked that, maybe you will like this. I may have enjoyed this one marginally more simply because it doesn't have Anne Hathaway. But both have damaged characters and a wedding as a central scene.

Waste of your time and definitely waste of legend such as Meryl Streep. Movie is not really bad, but it has no qualities either. It is like average B production TV drama, cute, simple and predictable on every step of the way. If you decide to watch it you won't get bored, but tomorrow you won't even remember what you watched. 5/10

Are you EFFING kidding me?!!! Apparently written by orphans who lived in a cave and never had any CONTACT with humans, Families,relationships, or music and know nothing of life. If ever there was a film where EVERYBODY INVOLVED did it for a paycheck with NO REGARD for the entertainment value...THIS IS IT. I have never seen such pathetic effort from two talented leads. Kevin Kline is the one good part but even the make-up artist failed miserably...notice his jaundiced appearance. The music was terrible - even by bar-band standards. The writing is off-the-charts HORRIBLE and if the WGA offers submissions for censure or could bar a writer from ever writing again, whoever wrote this garbage deserves their serious consideration.
