His Girl Friday
Walter Burns is an irresistibly conniving newspaper publisher desperate to woo back his paper’s star reporter, who also happens to be his estranged wife. She’s threatening to quit and settle down with a new beau, but, as Walter knows, she has a weakness: she can’t resist a juicy scoop.

Captivating movie !
Boring, over-political, tech fuzed mess
Hectic-paced comedy classic. Russell and Grant are fantastic. Dialogue travels at 100 miles a minute! And it manages to take pot-shots at tabloid journalism and corrupt cops and politicians with the romance taking the backseat to the goings-on. Twice ironical reference is made to real names - Grant describes Russell's fiancé Bruce as looking like Ralph Bellamy and later he refers to Archie Leech, Grant's real name of course. All good fun and the miracle is that the pace keeps at bay the nasty reality of the crime and all that ensues. Is this movie almost without any score? I only noticed music at the end. It was as if it would only have been a distraction otherwise! The dialogue took up every second of the soundtrack! (viewed 11/16)
This is a classic film starring Carey Grant, on top of the subtle comedy that he naturally uses in his films, it portrays a very alive romance with a funny spin on it, most of the humor is old fashioned but it still is pretty fun even for the nowadays. the actors are very convincing in this film as well some of the movies of the period are not exactly the most convincing but the lead roles in this one do a very good job of showing consistent portrayal of their characters.
This film felt very promising in the beginning with the fast pace comedy and witty banter between Hildy and Walter. This pace eventually became too much at one point and couldn't wait for the film to be over. The characters were pretty annoying except for Bruce. I also found the side plot with the escaped prisoner distracting and unnecessary.
I very much appreciated the leading lady in this film, Rosalind Russel who plays a ex-wife and also somewhat of an ex-reporter to Carey Grants persistent character of a leader in the press world. There are very few sets used in this film making it feel like a miniature sitcom involving various characters such as relentless reporters who are busy trying to get a scoop on corrupt politics and justice. The comedy is fast and witty which plays out nicely due to the constant use of the telephones that occupy the press office. I found the plot to be sort of ridiculous and understandably so which is why it is a screwball comedy. I doubt the motives between the characters would've resulted the same in real life but hey its a movie and that's what you pay for.
