Did you people see the same film I saw?
As Good As It Gets
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
One of the only reasons people give this movie negative reviews is because of the director...
Great movie, with a completely new horror character, unimaginable. Keeps the viewer in view from the beginning to the end, with a touch of comedy that does not affect the spirit of the plot. The faces of panic abound in the film with great handling of realism. The make-up of the Creeper is magnificently accomplished. One of the best horror movies of all time.
Jeepers Creepers (2001)*** (out of 4)Brother and sister Darry (Justin Long) and Trish (Gina Philips) are driving cross country when they're ran off the road by an old beaten up truck. Soon afterwards they're in for the fight of their lives as they battle some sort of demon that just can't die.Victor Salva's JEEPERS CREEPERS is one of the better horror films to come out of this era. There were a lot of graphic horror movies full of blood and guts but this film here tried to be something different. It's really hard to explain until you watch it but this movie really stays away from graphic violence and gore and instead goes for a more serious approach. It's clear that the director wanted to scare you with the monster, the atmosphere and for the most part I think he succeeded. What makes the film so good is the fact that you never really know what's going on. The monster is a very effective one and I must say that the fact you know very little about him is what makes the film work so well. When you first see him you're thinking that he's just a serial killer. As the film goes on the killer just becomes more and more strange to the point where you're basically inside some sort of deranged fairy tale where you experience the horror but have no idea what you're dealing with. For the most part both Long and Philips are good in their roles. I will say that I had a few issues with the screenplay including some of the things that happened but for the most part I felt it was at least realistic and managed to hold your attention from start to finish. A lot of credit has to go to Salva for his direction and keeping everything moving at a tight pace.
This is movie is so hilariously bad that i can't help but like it. It has become my favorite unintentional comedy at least i think it's unintentional either way these two college kids use corny lines left and right and do some of the most unbelievable things ever. Hey did you see that i think he threw a body down that hole... lets go check it out oh and i think i'd like it if you dangled me down the edge of this hole so that i can hollar more clearly cuz you know that whole 6 ft might make my hollars more audible to the dead body we think we saw him throw down the hole..... oh just don't drop me...ahhhhhhhh....(of course he fell) are you f'in kidding me right now....holy crap this movie is one of the kings of corny and i don't usually like these kinds of movies in fact the first time i saw it i hated it. I got bored a few years later and ended up wathcing it again and couldn't help but lmao at it. Now i watch about once a year i sometimes skip most of the end for it winds down into a bore fest cause after you know what happens last 20 mins hold little entertainment. This and shock em dead are probably my 2 fav super corny "horror" flicks ever i don't even watch horror movies anymore but this one in particular is just too funny to not rewatch every once in a while.
