Good People
Tom and Anna Wright, a young American couple, fall into severe debt while renovating Anna's family home in London. As the couple faces the loss of their dream to have a house and start a family, they discover that the tenant in the apartment below them is dead, and he's left behind a stash of cash—$400,000 worth. Though initially hesitant, Tom and Anna decide that the plan is simple: all they have to do is quietly take the money and use only what's necessary to get them out of debt. But when they start spending the money and can't seem to stop, they find themselves the target of a deadly adversary—the thief who stole it—and that's when very bad things start happening to good people.

Such a frustrating disappointment
Nice effects though.
A brilliant film that helped define a genre
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Much better film than I expected. Looks kind of a French thriller, but based on the novel of the same name. It revolves around a young American couple who moved to London, where they're on the verge to lose the inherited house after the severe debt. Luckily they find bundles of money from their dead renter. Since it was a bad money they wait for the right time to spend it, but what follows is their nightmare who ends up running away from the most dangerous men. This is really a good story and a well made film, but I don't understand how it was so underrated. Obviously the critics did their job like usual, but the film fanatics turning it down as well which is a very sad. I know it feels so familiar, but very entertaining with lots of edgy moments. Especially the final battle between all the group at one place was very good, yet they kept it so simple. Both the lead actors were fantastic, including a small contribution by Tom Wilkinson. It is a small story, that mostly takes place in a week. But the pace was excellent and it comes to the point without making any delay in the form of development. Yet there remains some mystery like how the guy died in the couple's rented apartment. Excluding those which only brings cliché if it goes deeper, the film definitely worth watching and I feel happy for watching a good thriller after a long time. So I recommended it.7/10
Good People is not a film to be taken too serious or to have high expectations. The film didn't manage to have a wide US release date in theaters but then it managed to make its rounds in foreign countries, and limited release revenues. The film starts out well, and starts to pick up when the main plot is put in place- the couple of Tom and Anne (James Franco & Kate Hudson) discover their tenant renting their basement has died, and they eventually discover large sums of cash. At this point, we start to realize how the film will go and turn out, but howeever within this there lies many possibilities which the film could have taken, though it seemed to struggle down towards the end.Good People is a fun light hearted crime thriller, and includes several twists and turns along the way. For a film such as this, its serves it purpose, it could have been better with a better plot, more developed characters, a better and less predictable ending, but for what it was it was entertaining for a solid run time film. What makes the film worth watching is the wonderful scenery and the chemistry between James Franco and Kate Hudson, there are also several scenes of unintentionally comedy towards the last 30 or so minutes which are worth while.
This is a very strange film - its has a great cast: James Franco, Kate Hudson and Tom Wilkinson who I always particularly enjoy seeing on screen but is so "by the numbers" thriller I cant believe it got made. The bad guys are poor - in no way convincing that they might do anyone any harm and more suitable for TV soap villains than convincing dangerous drug dealers. The frustrations for me start at the beginning. The villains are parked in the middle of an abandoned car park waiting for their prey to arrive. Said prey is an international drug dealer with a bevy of henchmen. Henchmen and body guards look around the car park checking for assailants but somehow not a soul pays attention to the 4x4 in the middle of the car park. This is the sort of lazy film making that I find so frustrating why cant anyone make a good action/thriller in London it always seems so budget. We are later told James Franco character has inherited a house but he owes loads of money on the mortgage? If you owe loads on a mortgage that's not much of an inheritance - sell the thing. There are obvious lingering shots on nails from a nail gun c20 minutes into the film so you know someone is going to get shot with the obligatory nail gun later in the story. The whole film seems inconsistent and formulaic. The pace is decent and the cast do as good as can be expected with what their given but its just such a weak script. The premise is as old as time young couple find money that belongs to criminals and make the mistake of keeping it. My first thought was of shallow grave but the money and dead guy apart these films share nothing. If you haven't seen shallow grave yet and are considering watching this film just watch shallow grave instead - either for the first time or re-watch it to prove Britain does make good thrillers.
Everyone is phoning it in. Although I'm not sure what not phoning it in is for Franco and Hudson who are mediocre actors at best and more famous for being famous. Tom Wilkinson is sleepwalking through it all. The plot is mundane with full of holes. The leads of course have their reasons as they always do. Gee a bankrupt American white girl who's got to have IVF. Don't they have free health care in the UK? All in all you've seen this movie 20 times. Nothing new. Keep Calm And Franco On. And Kate Hudson is a hormonal ninja. Jesus Christ WTF is this 10 line nonsense? This the 12th line and it's still not ten, apparently. I guess the lll just keeo tyoung and typing and typing and typing maybe this is enough you know SOME movies aren't worth "10" lines.
