If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Blistering performances.
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
The comic 'Bluntman and Chronic' is based on real-life stoners Jay and Silent Bob, so when they get no profit from a big-screen adaptation they set out to wreck the movie. Although it's better than the awful and unfunny Clerks II Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back suffers from some of the same problems first Will Ferrell is just not a great actor he is annoying as hell he has like 3 or 4 good movies in his career, most of humor is either gross or stupid and unfunny to this day the only movie that can use adult humor and nail it is only Deadpool which i loved. But i did loved some of the cameos such as Wes Craven and Mark Hamill pure gold he was basically Joker meets Luke Skywalker meets The Trickster and also Ben Affleck who played both himself and Holden McNeil he was pretty much on point when he talked about the internet and how people always hate everything it's basically the world we actually live in and remember when they cast him as Batman and everyone was going nuts and laughing well you aren't laughing now are ya people? Anyways Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back packs some good jokes, chuckles and even some hilarious but in the end it does repeat the weird Kevin Smith humor which it seems it works but for every single one of us it's kinda tired to this point but i had fun with this film it wasn't perfect but it wasn't a complete disaster at the end also watch out for the horrible Scooby-Doo cameo it will make you want to watch the live action movies again yeah it was pretty bad. I give this film a 6 out of 10 and a B-
Best appreciated with Kevin Smith's early career movies fresh in memory, this fifth feature from the Jersey director gives his recurring supporting characters a film of their own as the two stoner friends set out to sabotage a Hollywood motion picture based on their likenesses. It is as fun as it sounds and while Jay and Silent Bob's shenanigans are not as funny here as in 'Mallrats' (where they stole every scene), Smith milks every movie-making reference for all that it is worth. There are some great fourth-wall breaking moments, Ben Affleck is hilarious as his 'Chasing Amy' character who scoffs at Affleck the actor, stating that he is "not a fan" of 'Good Will Hunting', and there is a wacky 'Scooby Doo' parody in the mix too. The most deliciously satirical moments are saved for the third act though with the title characters running amok in Miramax Studios where Wes Craven is shooting yet another 'Scream' flick and Gus Van Sant is filming a lame 'Good Will Hunting' sequel! Affleck and Matt Damon (playing themselves) are given some of the film's funniest dialogue in this section as they mock each other's career choices. While the film ends on a high note, there is no denying how sidetracked the middle section of the film feels as the duo become involved with animal rights activists. Smith overdoses on gags involving the acronym 'C.L.I.T.', Will Ferrell is grating as an inept cop, and most disappointingly, this middle section lacks the movie references of the film's first and final half hour. Never to mind, the highlights of the film are what stand out afterwards and there too many to count. All concerned are in top form and 'Star Wars' fans will no doubt appreciate Mark Hamill's cameo as a flabbergasted actor.
Spoiler alert!!!OK I really liked the whole idea for the movie and the idea of two no life's actually being inspirational. This whole movie is really funny and it feels like a dumb and dumber film just with more swearing, violence, and an annoying black so-called comedian bashing on white people all because he's having a bad day. I mean this movie was ruined not only by the white bashing but it was the talentless Chris rock! This guy drives me crazy and every time I see him, I'd like to punch the TV. I just have to ask why must a racist African American even be brought up? This movie was fine without him and besides he serves no comedic purpose except to make the viewer wish he was killed during the end fight scene. Now I don't expect you to agree with me about whether Chris rock is funny or not I just wish people would understand that race bashing should be outlawed. Come on whites get called racists because of this how come black people could get away with this?! Anyway the movie was very good it had a very good cast, with the exception of Chris rock. Overall I think the funniest scene was when the orangutan likely kills Jason Biggs and the other guy dressed up as Jay. I mean wasn't expecting it, that was ingenious. I give it a 7 out of 10.
Jay and Silent Bob have to trek across country to stop a movie from being made , based on their likenesses. after being kicked off of their block where they hang out at the corner store, they run into someone they know and they tell our heroes about a movie being made , and it turns out it's about them, they get advice from George Carlin and many other,, they get involved with sexy girls,, stealing a monkey,, and many other misadventures along the way including a showdown, with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon,, this is one of the funnier movies that I have seen in the past 20 years,, lot's of crude sexual humor, and sight gags,, lot's of references to other movies that have been made recently. if you're looking for a great funny "road trip" movie, than this is definitely worth watching,, and by the way Shannon Doherty is great in this movie as well.
