I remember seeing this film for the first time when I was 6 years old. I saw it at our holiday house in Byron Bay and only 3 movies have ever terrified me as much as this one did (Jeepers Creepers and A Nightmare On Elm Street) but the idea of this movie is still so great whenever I think about it. Instead of a blade wielding psycho we have death itself as our villain. And hey, it can take any of us out whenever it wants. It cannot be stopped. Unlike the Terminator, some plastic explosive will not do the trick. If you're chosen, your time is up mate. I couldn't sleep for about 3 weeks after watching it. I still don't know how i can get on a plane without having a nervous breakdown. I also look on this movie fondly as it gave me a serious adrenaline rush of fear. It is more thought provoking than people give it credit too. We are only here on borrowed time after all. The big man in the sky will send the reaper to come calling for us someday. Maybe we should just be grateful we didn't end up on this particular death list, as I would like to die with my body parts intact at the very least. Another great thing about it is Devon Sawa's performance, believable and sympathetic. He brings credibility to a role that could have been cardboard. It is a great shame that his career never took off after this, but he can at least smile knowing he gave a memorable performance in at least one movie. It's still no masterpiece and it has an unsatisfying ending, and of course all the sequels sucked, but it will always send that shiver down my spine in the most satisfying way whenever I watch it. Times up flight 180.

Honestly, throughout all my life watching horror movies, I have never came across something so terrible and repetitive as Final Destination. Final Destination fits the rank of a cheap horror movie made as a cash grabbing technique for gullible audiences that would enjoy watching a dog taking a dump as long as its labelled as "horror" with some effective sounds to make it "scary" and disgusting. The point of the whole movie is that someone see's flashes of their deaths and their friends or random people, then they either stop it or simply ignore it and as u would expect - they fail. The whole movie is centered around praising very gruesome and puke worthy imagery without any real plot. The characters and their acting is so terrible you actually can't wait for them to die, but when they do, you wonder why you're still watching the movie. It's the kind of movie that will make real horror fans hate themselves by the time they finish watching it. The point of the "story"...? There isn't such. Suspense? Doesn't exist. You can just sit back and have a good laugh at the character's stupidity and awful writing. I actually think this movie doesn't fit in any genre (it's definitely not thriller), let alone horror. Instead, it's a cheap shot to make some free cash.If you watch this, prepare for 1 and half hour of cringe worthy acting, painfully awkward writing and dialogues and some really, really gruesome deaths which is what makes dumb people rate this as a "good horror". I honestly don't recommend you to watch this or its sequels.

This film had a definitely inserting concept, that a group of teens who have "cheated" death after abruptly departing an airplane that ends up exploding upon takeoff, who then find themselves fighting for their lives as death stalks them in the form of a series of elaborate fatal and/or near fatal accidents and mishaps (ranging from seemingly simple bathroom slip and falls, to downed power lines, to elaborate car and train sequences). The film was written and directed by "X-Files" veterans Glen Morgan and James Wong, so from a technical standpoint, it's a well crafted film with excitement, suspense, and thrills. However, I'm not sure the film's premise was enough to sustain a feature length film. It also doesn't help that the characters are not all that interesting, though it is kind of fun to see a young Ali Larter. Overall, this film this lacked story and characters to sustain itself, but the elaborate death sequences were interesting and suspenseful enough to hold my interest and make the film worth watching.
