To all those who have watched it: I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.
Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
This movie was an absolute sh*t-show, so much so that it was actually laughable. I laughed AT this movie... key word "at". The script and plot are stupid and the the acting didn't help the already poor situation. I was appalled at the portrayal or Trinidad... absolutely ridiculous and inaccurate and quite blatantly rude to the people who live there. And what was up with their accent?? That was not Trinidadian. The writers must be some ignorant people because they completely discredited the country and did no research at all to back this movie. Also did I mention the absolute horrendous script and plot??? Please do not watch this. Or do if u want a chuckle and a waste of time... to be clear this is not a funny film, it was laughable because of how absurd and wrong and terrible the whole thing was... Who wrote this? Because (insert name of person who wrote this)'s career is over.
The awakening is 51st another lose remake trying to copy the originality and fresh feel of the first of two teenagers falling in love.A modern day retelling has Emma and Dean on a high school trip aboard seas. Already the plot seems out there as Natlie Holloway had gone missing in the Bahamas five years earlier and all future school trips like this were banned. While the other events are completely ignored and we seen the same experiences before it didn't really pick up until the rescue from the search part.Brooke Sheilds and Christopher Atkins making guest appearances as A parent to each child.Emma being a popular girl, well Dean's not, tries to push her feelings aside and go on with her life like nothing happened. More of a stretch is that Dean was the masculine sexy broading type who wouldn't be so uncool or a girl would be ashamed to take home to mama. The theme I liked explored here that was touched on in the sequel was you never knew if the couples belonged together or its a matter of convince.Dean and Emma chose each other at the end based on mural attractions and inner self they learned about one another in a secured space. It was more enjoyable then return and felt this was the follow up we've been waiting for.8/10
Okay, I am a little bit embarrassed to be reviewing this film, but I read some other reviews, and I wanted to point out some elements I noticed.I caught this movie by accident one morning when I happened to have a day off. I was just flipping channels when it came on. When I saw what it was, I decided to leave it on while I did other things. What surprised me about the film was the arc for Indiana Evans' character, Emma. While much of the movie was silly, the dialog between the two leads seemed honest in the context of the story and the characters. They actually talked to and got to know one another. Also, unusual for a Lifetime movie, Emma actually takes joy and pleasure in her own sexuality. That the character (not the actor) is a teenager makes for a slightly subversive moment in an otherwise formulaic film.Emma is also the one who misunderstands Dean when they return home, which is nice, as often men are portrayed as misinterpreting signals, and instead Emma misunderstands Dean. Emma and her sister also have a great moment that passes the Bechtel test, in that they do not talk about the men in their lives, but each other. The movie has problems, but the acting is not one of them. I think the two leads are quite good with the material, and they make their characters work despite some obvious holes in the plot. The movie's island scenes were also beautifully filmed. The eponymous lagoon is particularly lovely. Not a spectacular film, but it had a few surprises.
I can't believe I sat through this movie. How lame.Brenton is good looking and could have had better lines. And Indiana was just a total bitch. This seems like a cheap thrown together as they were filming movie. Very disappointed.I didn't care for the original Blue Lagoon either.I'm pretty sure I could have made a better story than that. And the parents? They just gave up and went home? What? Even the sister loses out cause now she lost the attention while Indiana was gone. Who makes these cheap movies? It should have had a more dangerous plot, and more realistic scenes. Also, sex w/o condoms and she never got preggers? Hmmm...Thats as believable as Brenton not having to shave once
