While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
I don't think they should have used the title transporter for this movie nor the same character. I didn't know if it was supposed to be a p$%% take or not, but that is definitely what I thought. Could not bring myself to watch more than 20 min, and they were painful 20 min I tell ya....
Along with unnecessary sequels, one thing that pisses me off from the stable of Hollywood studios is reboots.Reboots are mostly rubbish and waste of time & money according to me. And after watching this reboot, it makes my case more stronger. The fact that Transporter worked so well was its main lead Jason Statham. Even Transporter two and three were below average movies, Statham was at his best.Sadly, Ed Skerin is no Statham. He lacks his personality and don't start me on his poor dialogue delivery. He may have the looks but his looks can't save this poor movie. The story which is a revenge drama has not teeth and tough the action sequences are good, they lack the edge of the seat thrill. The only decent thing is this boring thing is Ray Stevenson who plays Sr Frank Martin aka transpoter's dad. He has some nice one liners and seems to be the fun guy in a film that takes itself too seriously.Trust me. Miss it !!
Now there are many things wrong with this attempt to bring new life into the Transporter series. Though I never remember it having any problems with Statham in the main role-at least not as huge problems as this one has by trying to create a Transporter universe. Something the Bourne universe did better with Jeremy Renner and still fell flat on their noses/backs/behinds or whatever you want to call it.There is Ray S. who is completely wasted in this (no pun intended), there is misogyny aplenty and just stupid and mean. And there is also so many clichés and ridiculous holes in the "plot" (if you want to call it that), that it almost physically hurts watching. On the other side (the "good" one), you do have certain stunts and action scenes that kind of deliver what the movie promised. But all is let down by really bad acting, dumb "twists" (you really have to be blind and deaf not to see them coming) and an overall dread (PG-13) feeling ... steer clear! Pun intended!
Essentially The Transporter Refueled is a 90 minute Audi Commercial, every TV commercial photo angle for the car is in nearly every scene. This goes far beyond simple "Product placement". Ed Skrein is a PATHETIC replacement for the franchise original Transporter Jason Statham, Skrein look constantly constipated and very angry about it. Loan Chabanol and all the other girls in the film act like they are on a Fashion Show runway instead to trying to act. The only saving grace in acting in this film is Ray Stevenson, who is actually believable in his character. Without Statham, just please retire this film franchise already!
