I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Great movie and great leading actress. I love the twist at the end!
Jessica Chastain's performance is terrible (and I generally really like her) and this played out like a wanna be earnest idea of lobbyists by writers who don't actually know Washington or that world at all. - Yet the facts included and the obvious need for change around the 2nd Amendment are compelling and fascinating.
First of all let me comment on the incredibpe rising actress which was fantastic in the role of Sloane. The film takes time to cook and does not exactly grab you from the start, you do need concentration on the subtleties it proposes and will leave you both astonished and angry by how it unfolds. It is deep and fascinationg, the character of Sloane is certainly not the typical female that follows restricting rules of society about how women must behave, and for that it is reverting and deserves any award for honesty.
Long and boring political drama. Chop out 30 minutes and maybe it will work.
