Must See Movie...
From my favorite movies..
I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Unfortunately, the movie doesn't follow the success of the game. We only get a glimpse of 47' history and background, the character lacks depth and the whole premise stands out of the Hit-man concept. Pacing is not very good, acting is quite poor and so is the script. The plot is not bad but the delivery is flawed. There is a lot of action, fight scenes are naive and there are a lot of errors.Personally, I only wanted to see the movie because of Rupert Friend who gave a solid performance, but I must say it was a complete waste of time.
While the original Hit-man adaptation was not as bad as the Max Payne adaptation, it still seemed to lack some of the stylish choices of the game. If you have played the games, than a lot of shots that are used in the movie here will seem familiar. I'm a bit shocked that another reviewer didn't like the amount of shots the "reloading" of the guns got in this. If that bothers you, than any action movie will seem "bad" in the sense that there is more shooting than reloading.Same is true here, but the main actor seems to capture the essence of the game character. I'm not saying it's a perfect movie of course (see rating), but it does a really good job and does not take anything for granted. Trying to please fans of the game and action fans at the same time is not the easiest thing to do. But going for an "R" instead of making this a family friendly affair (Hitman just isn't that) shows the amount of respect for the source the filmmakers brought to the table. So if you're looking for a decent action movie or you actually enjoy the games, this probably will please you (except for the mentioned reloading sequences of course :p )
I wasn't expecting much from this movie since I watched the trailer. But I will not get into any details on that, let's go directly to the movie. To us,fans of hit-man,the title actually means something. When I read or expect to watch something about hit-man I expect a super trained assassin with no ethical code.A super killer, silent and precise, always hiding and leaving no clues behind. What we get here is nothing like that. There are a lot of gunfire scenes, explosions, talks between hit- man and his victims before he kills them and the agent himself is a product of genetic alterations that leave him "heartless".The thing that fascinated me more about hit-man is that he acquired his assassin identity through a series of hard training and psychological tests since he was a child in order to be made different from a normal person concerning feelings and way of thinking. Here he is just a lab product. He is smart and precise and changes costumes, which was a nice touch but the constant car chases,gun-fires and high level destruction of surroundings makes it a totally different thing from Agent 47.I didn't like the fact that we get to see Diana and she is presented to us like a total nobody.I didn't like the fact that besides being genetically programmed out of emotion,we see him act on a different manner. So,we have plot holes even for the newly established hit-man set.His "sister" was a bit indifferent and his rival looked like a middle aged stud that you can tell he's a total asshole just from the way he makes his hair. Not manly at all.And besides all that bloodshed we do not see him actually die...That was disappointing. In the end hit-man defies Diana, who has already decided to get rid of him since the operative sent to kill him arrived just after 47 made it clear he wouldn't bide by the contract.Another huge plot hole is in the fact that his "sister" after some focusing alone, becomes a super killing machine, while she is supposed to have only heightened senses. The end scene was a fail.A 47 clone appears, agent 48 ordered to kill 47 and Katia. They look exactly the same and while you would expect another great dual or fight between the 3,you only get a few seconds of cheesiness with the awful line"Diana sends her regards" or something.I wonder if she watched the "red wedding" when Lannisters "sent their regards" before saying that. The foes shoot at each other and that's it....Bad ending. All in all we get a relatively nice action packed movie with a lot of killing, high technology, some important plot holes,a bit of emotionless characters-but they are supposed to be some kind of cold blooded hybrids,so you can't expect a lot of feeling anyway-car chases and explosions, which is,as I said, kinda nice.....but not Hit- man.......If you expect something close to the game you will be disappointed.I give it a 4 as hit-man and a 5.5 as an action movie....so 5/10 seems appropriate.
A nearly invincible enemy, who can't be defeated by knifes, bullets or car crashes: check. Ability to see into the future to prevent bad decisions: check. Ah yes, there's also Agent 47.With that told let's see what this movie has to offer. A decent amount of action, an okay story, a few nice and surprising plot twists and some almost psychic elements that are too far stretched to be believable. Now I'm not familiar with the world of Hit-man and only saw the first movie from 2007. I appreciate a good action movie. For that we have Agent 47. But the other actress, "Katia van Dees" has some really weird and out of place powers. She can see what happens in places beyond her vision or even what's going to happen next.Surprisingly enough I'm not complaining about their antagonist, the Terminator-like John Smith. He has some skin modifications that prevent him for getting severely wounded and even though he can bleed a lot after taking a few bullets in the chest, that won't have him lying down for long. But that's technology, not some kind of psychic foretelling magic.Anyway, Agent 47 helps Katia find an old man. The bad guys are also after him, because he knows how to make Agents (and apparently witches too). There are high speed pursuits, lots of shooting and kills. The usual. I think 7 out of 10 is a fair rating. While it may be far from flawless, it will keep you entertained. Even though it's not as good as the first movie.
