12 Angry Men
The defense and the prosecution have rested and the jury is filing into the jury room to decide if a young Spanish-American is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. What begins as an open and shut case soon becomes a mini-drama of each of the jurors' prejudices and preconceptions about the trial, the accused, and each other.

Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
I do not often start my reviews with blunt and opinionated statements, but in this case, it's justified. "12 Angry Men" is righteously considered as one of the top 5 most genius movies ever made! I realize it changes quite frequently, but at the time I'm writing this user-comment, Sidney Lumet's amazing debut film is #5 in the IMDb Top 250! That's a fantastic accomplishment, especially if you consider this film is more than sixty years old, doesn't feature any computer-engineered special effects and hasn't got any geeky cult followings that dress up like the lead characters. Heck, if you take out the everlasting and manipulated feud between "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Godfather", this "12 Angry Men" may even be the REAL #1! But "12 Angry Men" deserves all the superlatives you could possible use to describe it. Everything about this film is perfect, and if there's one film that literally everybody should be obliged to watch at least once in his/her lifetime, I think it ought to be this one. The original story by Reginal Rose is wondrously absorbing, intelligent, intense and still incredibly relevant even after 60 years. Rose's own adaptation into a movie screenplay is also amazing, with not a single word or piece of dialogue too much or too few. The ensemble cast exists of twelve hyper-professional actors that each give away one of the most impeccable performances of their careers; most notable Henry Fonda as the humane hero, Lee J. Cobb as the dogmatic narcissist and E.G. Marshall as the rigorous pundit. But the biggest geniuses remain director Sidney Lumet and his cameraman Boris Kaufman. If you think that a film that for 99% takes place in one and the same room will inevitably become boring and monotonous, just wait and look what brilliant opportunities there exist in terms of camera angles, lighting, zoom functions and sweat stains!
Dialogue-driven movies are not often written, even less are made, and even less than that are considered to be good. 12 Angry Men is a film that not only beats the odds and is good, it is considered by many to be one of the best films ever made. Sporting a cast led by the always fantastic Henry Fonda, this movie presents the seemingly simple idea that when put in a position of power over another, one should consider the other's position and understand where they are coming from. A very forward-thinking film for its time, 12 Angry Men takes on some of the biggest issues our world has faced, continues to face, and will continue to face more than likely until the end of time such as racism, prejudice, abuse, apathy, cowardice, and other, darker aspects of humanity. Despite confronting this darkness head on, this film manages to do so without seeming either preachy or making the audience feel hopeless. Instead this film keeps the audience on the edge of their seats until the very end. As these twelve jurors go over every little aspect of the murder trial they've been assigned to, more and more doubt is cast upon the prosecution's case and slowly but surely, the vote in the room begins to turn towards a verdict of not guilty until it is unanimous and it has been proven that there is reasonable doubt, thereby acquitting the defendant. The screenplay is worthy of an Oscar as it naturally builds the tension, allows it to climax, and then brings it back down to a simmer all in a very believable, realistic way. My only complaint is that at times the dialogue seemed a touch forced and there were a few instances of over-acting but these didn't truly affect the film as a whole. This film is not only used in film school classes, it is utilized throughout various different aspects of the collegiate curriculum and for good reason. Standing as a testament to great filmmaking that is actually meaningful and carries with it an important message, 12 Angry Men is a movie that has stood the test of time and will continue to do so, proudly sporting a legacy that will continue on for generations to come.

12 Angry Men is such a simple concept, masterfully executed by Director Sidney Lumet.12 Jurors must vote unanimously to decide whether or not a young man is guilty of murdering his father. The film is set into motion when all but 1 of the 12 jurors vote guilty.Juror No.8 (Henry Fonda) makes the case that the young man on trial could be guilty however he wants to consider the case a little more before deciding to vote and ultimately deciding the fate of the accused. As tensions start to run high Juror No. 8 faces an uphill battle to convince the other 11 jurors there may perhaps be more than meets the eye. When I was watching it for the first time I felt like I was Juror No.13, constantly on the edge of my seat awaiting the next big revelation. On a promotional piece for the film it says "IT EXPLODES LIKE 12 STICKS OF DYNAMITE!". I couldn't agree more. 12 Angry Men is a riveting, powerful and uplifting experience that's message is still relevant today.Without a doubt it will always be one of my favorite movies of all time. What are you waiting for? Go watch it ;)
