Nice effects though.
The movie's only flaw is also a virtue: It's jammed with characters, stories, warmth and laughs.
It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Out of a very tired genra, we get a few movies that explore different angles of what a "zombie apocalypse" may produce. There are 4 or 5 relitively good movies that have done this that are some of my favorite movies in this genra. Unfortunately none of them did very well with the box office or the critics . I have to say this one, The Cured,is the better of all of them. Although the same people whining about how this has been done before by one movie named "The Flesh" are probably the same people who rave about the Spidermans, and Batmans and Transformers, (Star Wars etc) movies that are now into parts 7 and 8 and 9. THIS theme has few examples and is still new and fresh, with very few actual full movies representing any thing other than the usual zombie storyline. As for this movie what really stands out is the acting! It is TOP NOTCH! The plot is a little on the slow side especially for people who may be looking for the standard zombie film fare. But for me, I dont mind a slower pace and I was kept interested the entire movie. The choreography and camera use is put to appropriate use with the film showcased in bleak gray cold scenes. The direction and editing well done with cuts during the story of flashbacks that adds to the tension/burn. The human side to any Zombie flick has always fascinated me and I would recommend this one highly to those that are with me on that. For standard zombie violence, blood and gore you will have to look elsewhere. (although there is just enough of that portrayed to satisfy the zombie lover in all of us!)
I usually never write reviews, but for this movie, I'll make an exception. The bad reviews for this title seems to be almost entirely based on the idea that movies need to be original to be good. I disagree with this. The Cured is not a masterpiece, but it deserves more than it's current 5.4 rating. The actors are good. I find some of the characters and their reactions less believable than others, but not enough to bother. If you haven't seen The Flesh and you enjoy a decent zombie flick, I recommend this movie.
I hate this movie, its stupid, has no storyline and after being bored after 1h I really got agressive because it was so bad...waste of time!
Someone clearly watched the fantastic BBC mini series In the Flesh and then saw The Returned and decided for some reason to make damn near the same movie. If I had not seen In the Flesh and The Returned I would have found this to be a fresh take on an overworked genre, instead it's a retread that is not as good as the ones that came before. It isn't a bad movie, it's just there are better treatments of the same material, so watch In The Flesh and The Returned, then give this a go.It's well acted and directed, but just doesn't handle the material or approach as well.
