Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Too much of everything
Awesome Movie
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
A troubled woman living in an isolated community finds herself pulled between the control of her oppressive family and the allure of a secretive outsider suspected of a series of brutal murders. Beast is simply boring, cheesy and some of the acting is just over the top and ridiculous, the characters and the storyline were also simply just not that interesting either to be perfectly honest and it didn't make that much of a sense either. It's definitely an indie film that some people will appreciate and enjoy and some others like me will simply do not.
How well do we know those we love? This movie asks if our love is true, will it endure even if we find they have done something truly heinous? Jesse Buckley is great as the female lead, part ugly duckling and part rebel. I really liked the depiction of the suspicious townspeople and the prim and proper attitude of Moll's family. I see a bit of James Dean in Johnny Flynn as Pascal. He is a troubled yet charismatic figure who steals your heart and then gut punches you.
I loved Beast. Slow at times, but never boring. A compelling story which keeps you guessing where it's heading, as well as being untrusting of certain characters. The characters have lots of layers and the development is great, even when a character makes a dumb decision, you understand how and why they did it because it aligns with their personality and past choices; not to mention all of the characters were acted extremely well, making them all the more believable.
Thriller? Psychological? The movie is just a stylized romance flick with hints of a family drama. Nothing psychological or thrilling about it. Just because the soundtrack has cello and can bank on the dissonant does not mean that there is a deserved sense of dread. There fails be an engaging introduction to provide a sense of mystery that doesn't feel like a cop out to actual plot or storyline, otherwise we just kind of see cheap tricks to fool the viewers into a more suspenseful state than the actiion or dialogue dictates. There is a lack of motivation to this relationship between the main characters and therefore it feels flawed and unreal. There are two scenes that seem genuinely motivated within the world they have created here, otherwise the whole thing feels over engineered and forced. Without giving us the proper information as viewers it makes it impossible to enjoy the ride of the movie, and I get that there was suppose to be a mystery wrapped up in here but that really comes second when all you want is for the movie to end so you can see what happens. Also a few reactions in there where I almost burst out laughing (obviously not what they were going for). Predictable, the movie could end one of three ways and of course it ended the third way, which actually was obviously the first way. Hmmmmm... Skip this one.
