The Worst Film Ever

It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

This was so slow and ridiculous. The story was not believable at all. A man's wife has an affair with an unbalanced low life. This just wasn't believable. None of these characters acted within any realm of reasonableness. They all take the law into their own hands and run around doing ridiculous things to each other. I can't believe some of the good reviews. Even the acting was poor. This really wasn't a thriller or any kind of real mystery worth knowing the little twist that caused everyone to just let it go as a misunderstanding. Don't waste 90 minutes on this.

Bad Seed (listed as Preston Tylk on IMDb) stars Luke Wilson as Preston Tylk, a man who's wife, Emily (Mili Avital) admits to him she had an affair. Devastated, Preston storms out of the house only to return later to find his wife dead. Teaming up with a shady, but compassionate detective named Dick (Dennis Farina), Preston works to clear his name and find his wife's true killer.This thriller is also a tale about friendship and having compassion for others, as can be seen in the relationship between Preston and Dick. Wilson and Farina shine here, both giving quality performances. Norman Reedus also stars as Jonathan, and he does a nice job. There are many twists throughout Bad Seed, and the action is virtually continuous. The Tacoma location adds the right atmosphere to the somber story. Highly recommended.

This thriller about Preston Tylk, (Wilson) and a detective in search of the real truth of the man's wife's murder, and of the stalker (Reedus), who in turn wants to find out the real truth of his brother's death, and to confront the man, Preston, and get payback. Bad Seed may not be such a great title for this movie, but this thriller sure has great expectations, as well as Wilson and Reedus as the "cat and mouse". 8 out of 10.

I saw "Preston Tylk" at the San Jose Film Festival and was actually excited to see it. The program billed it as a neo-noir thriller and described its interesting premise. A guy goes out for coffee, comes back and his wife is dead. After that, things get weird. Unfortunately, the premise doesn't hold the film together. The acting is poor, the characters are reaching (striving, in fact) to be more than cliches, and the story is boring and played out. "Preston Tylk" proves a sad fact that just because a film is independent doesn't mean it has something interesting or new to say. Skip it.
