I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.
It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
This is a sparkling bonbon of an entertainment that kids and grownups alike can enjoy as a slew of entertainment's brightest stars portray beloved Mother Goose characters who help Mother Goose's son solve the mystery of his missing mom. (The Three Blind Mice (Bobby Brown) as film noir detectives! The Three Little Kittens ('80s band the Stray Cats)as a rock band! Georgie Porgie (Art Garfunkel) as the owner of a nightclub and Mother Hubbard (Elayne Boosler) running a diner! Gotta love it!)My only complaint is that David Bowie appeared nowhere in the cast (but then I'm a Bowie fan)The music is infectious and sticks in the brain and the costumes and sets are adorably quirky.I recommend this movie highly, whether you're 4 or 104+ or anywhere in between
this is an entertaining movie full of catchy tunes i found myself still singing. i wish more people had watched it so when i start singing one of the songs they would join in! my kids loved it we recorded on VHS years ago. i finally found the DVD and ordered it. when it came we watched it and realized that the DVD version was different than the version we recorded. some of our favorite songs on the recorded version are different on the DVD. what happened !!?? does anyone know how i can get the version that broadcast on Disney rather than the DVD version?? if you haven't seen the "other" version then the DVD is fine but if you have..... its a little disappointing.
I watched this movie over and over again as a kid. I want to see this movie put on DVD and watch it over and over again as an adult. It is so much deeper than Mother Goose rhymes and funny as hell. You will never again see a cast of characters like this put together in such a way. Also as a child it gave a whole new insight into the world of Mother Goose and the world of imagination. I was able to see a "real" side to all those stories I had been read over the years. Now looking back on this movie I wish I could show it to all of my friends I think they would love it and maybe one day the studio will put it out on DVD and we will be able to enjoy it all over again. It is simply awesome!
"Kids Movie"? Not in my opinion!!! This movie is Definitely for adults! Kids enjoy the basic story line (which is kinda weak), but only adults will get the FULL humor and the innuendos that FILL the movie!Example: Little Richard was at his BEST playing "Old King Cole" - a "merry" old soul.... ZZ Top play the "Three Men in a Boat" (which is actually an over-sized tea cup!)... Bobby Brown is one of the "Three Blind Mice" - who are supposed to be detectives??? Paul Simon does a GREAT job as "Simple Simon" - his lines are so off the wall that you'll have to rewind this section several times because you'll be laughing so hard! Howie Mandel is "Humpty Dumpty"... EVERY character is played by a known TV or Movie actor - ranging from Jean Stapleton to Pia Zadora!!Unfortunately, someone borrowed my copy and I can't find another. Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated!
