Brilliant and touching
I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.
I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
After recent failures, Vijay finds success again through Kaththi.Directed by A.R.Muragadoss who earlier directed Vijay in Thuppakki, he again emerges victorious in making a movie which is both critically and commercially alright. The movie showcases the plight of farmers and the problems they face during farming.Coming to the story, Kathiresan(Vijay) is a criminal who escapes from Kolkata jail and goes to chennai. He spots Jeevanandham(Vijay again!!!!) being shot by a group of goons. He decides to trap Jeeva and get him caught by the Kolkata police to escape imprisonment and lands in the place of Jeeva. Meanwhile he learns that Jeeva is the in-charge of a old age home where he is fighting a case against a multi national company headed by Chirag(Neil Nitin Mukesh shines....).He soon realises the gravity of the situation and also finds that Chiraag is also trying to kill the old age home inmates and Jeeva. He then decides to fight the case in the place of Jeevanandham.Vijay has shown remarkable development in acting. His characterizations were handled well by Murugadoss.Samantha plays the usual heroine role and she does her part well.Satish and the other character artists provide ample support. From the word go, Murugadoss rocks the screen with well written scenes and dialouges and especially the climax where Vijay explains the plight of farming and the occupation of farmlands by MNC's illegally were well executed. Anirudh nails the BGM right from the start and even entertains Vijay fans with a mass number. George.C.Williams's cinematography is exceptional. The coin fight scene is a really good idea but gets repetitive at the end. Also the transformation scene of Kathiresan is not so believable and could have been handled better.I don't know why leading ladies are selected if they aren't offered any important role in the movie.Truly speaking ,romance doesn't find a place in this gripping saga. Finally Kaththi is a action thriller which highlights the difficulties of farming and illegal activities of MNC.It is a touching tribute to the farmers of this country. It truly deserves a watch.
The Director-Actor duo is back with a blockbuster!! After Thuppakki, i indeed expected something even much better and Mr.Murgadoss has perfectly matched to the expectations of the public.Only the beginning was a bit boring but the tune and the background score did keep up the viewer's attention. Honestly, this was Vijay's best movie. Vijay has done a fabulous work in the recent years in Nanban,Bodyguard,Velayudham and Jilla. Everything including the action sequences, the storyline and the message in Kaththi was awesome! Truly the public needs such kinds of movies with a good storyline in Hindi. Hats off to A.R.Murgadoss and Vijay and of course, not to forget, the songs composed by Anirudh! I suggest the director to keep up the good work and keep directing with such messages in the future..
The film starts with the slow paced story line which might make the audience to feel as if that this is going to be usual Vijay's commercial flick. Later after 15-20 minutes of running the film actually starts and take us into the plot. Being very much fond of farming, I always aim to become a farmer. As this plot is about the issues faced by farmers in real time, the movie has clearly explained the current situation of corporate world and the farmers. The scene where few farmers die to create hype in the media so as to help Jeevanantham(Vijay) was well planned and shot thereby explaining the real time happenings in the Media world. Recommend everyone to watch this film as this has a strong social message though it has some slow pace portions and few misplaced songs within it.
the first half of the movie is very sloppy and slow. the songs of the movie are superb but doesn't move with the soul of the movie , you will feel that the songs are too fast and hip hop and the movie is very long and slow moving. The actual story of the script starts from the second half, where many logic is being questioned.the cinematography of the movie is not up to the mark,it makes you feel that your watching 2 different movies. The dialog's which Vijay talks about the death of every farmer in a hour makes us remember the dialogue in his previous movie nanban "every student dies in an hour". The dual role was clearly unnecessary for this movie. Samantha hardly had dialog's in the movie and the dialog's she had was the usually repeated dialog's of the sentiment girlfriends of 80's and 90's. Vijay is also seen fighting 50 people in a house, where none comes to know about it. the scene where he fights with a foreign gal , brings the memory of Surya fighting with a gal in ayan. Even though vijay had few moments in the scene proving that he is able to act, the weak narration spoiled it though. Over all. the movie had a very strong message, with very weak screen play with a long and lengthy script.
